NURSERY RHYME PARTY!

NURSERY RHYME PARTY
To celebrate our learning of so many nursery rhymes, we decided to have a party where everyone could dress as their favourite nursery rhyme character or fairy tale character. We helped Little Bo Peep find all her sheep that had hidden around the school. We ate muffins that the muffin woman had baked for us and ate Humpty Dumpty cookies. We had a great celebration!!

CHINESE NEW YEAR!!

CHINESE NEW YEAR!

For the week of February 19 - 26, our class learned about different traditions celebrated during Chinese New Year. Some things we learned about were: the Chinese Zodiac and that it was the Year of the Sheep/Goat, the colour red is used for Good Luck, children receive red envelopes with money to bring good fortune (we even made our own and received chocolate coins!), there are many parades to celebrate. We watched several Chinese New Year Parades on the computer and studied the many different moves they used to dance. Every parade has many dragons as they are meant to chase all bad luck away for the New Year. We made our own dragon masks and spent some time in our learning commons, practicing moving like the dragons we saw in the parades on the computer.

Our students designed their own Chinese New Year Dragon from our blocks!

CONSTRUCTION ZONE!

CONSTRUCTION ZONE!

After watching an episode of Peg + Cat, our students discovered that if you create a detailed diagram of what you want to build before you build it, you can use the diagram to build your design over and over again!!

LITTLE MISS MUFFET!

LITTLE MISS MUFFET
After studying the nursery rhyme.... Little Miss Muffet, we decided to make our own Curds and Whey to see exactly what Miss Muffet was eating. All the students then had a chance to taste the Curds we made and to much to our surprise....It was delicious and many students asked for more!!!
